Scott Harris, CPA
I grew up here in the Columbia Basin, and I am very proud to call it home. I did, however, spend many years outside of this region after high school. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Rexburg, Idaho at Brigham Young University-Idaho. After a great experience, I had the opportunity to earn my Master's degree in Accounting at Utah State University. Directly after school, I worked for 3 and 1/2 years at KPMG in downtown Salt Lake City. KPMG is one of the "Big Four"; one of the four largest public accounting firms in the world. KPMG gave me a great foundation for practical and successful tax and accounting methods and strategies. I had the pleasure of working on corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns. While at KPMG I sat for and passed the CPA exam to become CPA certified. When an opportunity came to move back to the Columbia Basin, my family and I jumped at the chance. That opportunity came with Columbia Basin Health Association in Othello where I was hired as a Senior Accountant. After two years in this position, I was promoted to Controller (Accounting Supervisor). As Controller I supervised many vital tasks including payroll for the 250+ employees, accounts payable, bookkeeping, purchasing, and was also involved in investment analysis and grants management.
I created Columbia Basin CPA in the Fall of 2012. With a genuine focus on clients (not only on filings/projects), we have experienced consistent and overwhelming growth since then. Our approach is never to simply complete a tax filing and see clients out the door. We seek to build a relationship with our clients and to go above and beyond to exceed expectations. We make ourselves available to our clients throughout the year for any tax or accounting related questions. My sincere belief is that our rapid growth is due to this unique approach. We look forward to serving Columbia Basin small businesses and families for many years to come.
